Robert Townsend High School approached Preferred Turf looking for an upgrade to their existing sports facilities. Limited by a grass oval that frequently became waterlogged, the school’s leadership team wanted to provide a variety of all-weather playing surfaces for students to enjoy.
Working with AWR Constructions and 3 Cross Constructions, we provided the surfacing for a major sports upgrade to the school. This included a futsal court with a shockpad underlay, as well as an acrylic multipurpose court.
Working to a tight deadline – that we beat by 1 day! – our installation team provided professional installation of the acrylic and synthetic turf surfaces. Navigating difficult site access and ensuring minimal disturbance to school students, we were able to deliver a high-end result using several quality products.
Whilst AWR Constructions and 3 Cross Constructions took care of the civil works, concreting and shade structure, the Preferred Turf team handled the efficient installation of a stunning blue acrylic court and a synthetic turf futsal court, including a high-performance AeroRoll™ shock pad underlay.
This proprietary rubber shock pad is a unique product engineered specifically as a support underlay for sports surfaces. Suitable for high-performance sports such as hockey, tennis, rugby, football, cricket, futsal, netball and more, it allows the installer to select a specific thickness and density to customise the ball control, impact response and shock absorption of the finished surface.
AeroRoll™ is suitable for applications including polyurethane surfaces, athletic tracks and synthetic turf installations as seen in this project. By using the recycled rubber AeroRoll™ shock pad combined with 40mm Allsports soccer grass, the Preferred Turf team could confidently create a futsal court with precision playing characteristics. The 40mm synthetic sports turf provides a realistic appearance and excellent upright yarn performance, creating a playing field that looks great, is resistant to wear, and enhances the overall experience of the game.
Alongside the futsal court, a second multipurpose acrylic surface was installed. Acrylic surfacing is an excellent choice offering durability, longevity and anti-slip features, and helping to create a safe and vibrant playing space for students.
Acrylic surfacing provides true ball bounce and controlled speed, and great traction when playing sports, as well as being easy to clean and maintain.
Once the synthetic turf and acrylic surfaces were installed, our team added the finishing touches by installing goals and applying precision linemarking.
The overall result means the students at Robert Townson High School now have a facility that can be used in all types of weather, and they no longer have to contend with frustrating drainage issues on their main oval.
