Preferred Turf recently completed a project for St Kevin’s Catholic Primary School, part of the Sydney Catholic Schools network. The catalyst for this project was the poor quality installation of the existing synthetic turf, leaving the school with major issues on its multi-sports court.
The existing turf was of poor quality and had been installed using improper installation practices, incorrect joining tape and the wrong adhesives. The installation was on a multi-sports court that featured a range of different line markings, many of which had started to lift, causing trip hazards and making it impossible for the local netball club to use the area for training.
The school’s leadership team approached us to replace the existing synthetic court with new high-quality turf that complied with industry standards and offered a safer place for students to enjoy.
To address the peeling and degrading synthetic surface, we developed a comprehensive plan that ensured that we could complete the installation within a tight timeframe. Our installation crew worked closely with the school to develop a timeline that minimised disruption to the school’s routine and ensured the installation was completed within a short school holiday break.
Replacing the existing synthetic turf with our high-quality 18mm Multi-Sports product was the main deliverable of this project. Specifically designed for sports courts and synthetic playing fields, this turf offers an excellent balance of performance and aesthetics.
Our team of experienced installers then accurately applied the necessary futsal and netball line making, ensuring long-term durability and a safe non-trip playing surface. We also installed new netball posts and futsal goals, enhancing the overall usability of the court.
Being the school’s main play area meant that the court needed to be fully completed and handed over within a two-week school holiday break. Despite this limited window to remove the old turf and complete the new installation, our team worked diligently to keep the project on time and within budget, minimising any disruption to classes.
Students at St Kevin’s Catholic Primary School can now enjoy a high-quality, safe, and durable multi-sports court that will look great and perform well for years to come. The school was highly satisfied with the installation, and the local netball club are now able to utilise the area for training.
The new synthetic turf installation has enhanced the visual appeal of the school’s play area and delivered a bright, enjoyable sports and recreation space.
This project represents yet another challenging yet highly rewarding project for the Preferred Turf team, who has delivered many synthetic turf installations for Sydney Catholic Schools.
