Barker College is an esteemed independent Anglican co-educational school founded in 1890. With facilities catering for early learning, primary and secondary day and boarding school, the school in Sydney’s leafy North Shore is currently making strong headway on several new construction projects.
This includes a new multi-level learning hub with over 20 classrooms, which will complement its recently completed brand-new preschool area for the school’s youngest students.
The new preparatory school zone is located above ground level on a suspended slab, meaning it was imperative to ensure all surfaces and sub-surfaces were designed and installed to suit the intricate application, to ensure this solution would perform in the long term.

The cushioning effect of yellow and orange EPDM soft fall rubber offers extra safety around the climbing gym, providing a bright and warm contrast to the adjoining nature play areas.
Platinum Cool Turf has been used to great effect, visually joining several play spaces and creating a natural-looking green space that transitions well into the nearby glass-walled indoor classrooms.
The sparkling new preschool playground area provides a safe, creative and engaging space for young children to enjoy the outdoors. With less maintenance requirements than grass and long-lasting UV resistance, the play area surfacing will remain looking new for many years to come.
