Putting this mindset into practice, the team at OneSchool Global approached Preferred Turf to revitalise an underutilised sports field by transforming it with the highest quality synthetic turf surfacing.
Our design and installation staff worked closely with the team from OneSchool Global to ensure the new synthetic sports area would adequately meet student needs, both now and in the future.
Working in tandem with the innovative minds at OneSchool Global, our team designed a synthetic turf surface that would help solve the existing issues being faced by the school. An awkward hillside location meant that the existing natural turf field was difficult to maintain, experiencing water runoff and dry dusty patches throughout the hot summer months.
The original field was also unfenced, resulting in balls regularly rolling out of the field of play and interrupting the flow of soccer and other sports matches.
To rectify these problems, the Preferred Turf team designed a neatly enclosed area using our 50mm All Sports FIFA Approved Artificial Turf – a superb quality soccer field turf. The full-sized field features white line markings that met the requirements of the various sports played at the school, including rugby, soccer, and general PE classes.
To complement the new surface, oversized sandstone block edging was installed by LJD Civil, creating a natural seating area for spectators. To cap off this project, low-profile chain link fencing ensures balls always stay in the field of play.
Located on the side of a hill, the field presented some site transport and access problems, however, we worked with the civil contractor and engineers to ensure our design worked in with their existing construction plans.
The field is also adjacent to the school’s main pick-up and drop-off areas, meaning our team had to ensure we worked efficiently around these peak times.
Having delivered many other education projects in the past, our installation team had no trouble overcoming this challenge, working efficiently to avoid peak morning and afternoon times, and ensuring we caused no disturbance to students.
This creative new playground allows plenty of open space for imaginative play whilst also promoting safety and linking in with the important indigenous and cultural history of the area.
A combination of synthetic turf and soft fall rubber has created an easy-care playground environment that can be enjoyed by students of all ages, with minimal ongoing maintenance required.
