Part of the Sydney Catholic Schools network, De La Salle College in Revesby Heights is an established boys’ school with a focus on offering a wide range of learning opportunities for students.
The school approached the Preferred Turf team looking to transform a dry, dusty, high-traffic area adjacent to the school hall. Measuring over 600m2, this area received little sunlight and plenty of foot traffic every day, making it impossible to maintain a natural grass surface. The school’s brief specified that the area needed to be flexible, transforming from a social breakout area into a sports area when required.
Preferred Turf was approached to install hard-wearing synthetic turf in this high-traffic area. The project aimed to provide a safe, low-maintenance, and visually appealing solution that could withstand the daily demands of the school’s students.
Preferred Turf supplied and installed our popular 18mm Multi-Sports Synthetic Grass in the designated area. This variety of synthetic turf was selected due to its resilience and aesthetics, making it ideal for the high-traffic area. Our experienced installation team also added line marking to create a volleyball court, providing additional usability to the multi-purpose space.
The installation process was challenging due to limited access to the area, but our team confidently completed the project within the given school holiday timeframe.
One of the main issues we faced was the limited access to the installation area, making shifting construction materials in and out challenging. To overcome this, our team designed a plan to ensure that we could manoeuvre the rolls of synthetic turf and equipment into the designated area without disturbing the school’s daily activities.
The project also had to be completed within a brief school holiday timeframe, which required comprehensive planning and coordination. Working with the school leadership team, we scheduled each part of the project to occur during the school holidays to ensure minimum disruption to students and staff.
De La Salle College’s tired and dusty play area has been transformed into a multipurpose social and sports space thanks to our 18mm Multi-Sports Synthetic Grass. With line marking creating the finishing touch, our team has created a safe, low-maintenance, and visually appealing solution that will reliably withstand the daily demands of the school’s students.
The project was completed successfully within the given holiday timeframe, causing minimal disruption to educational activities, and the school’s leadership team are thrilled with the final result.
