Questions to Ask Before Buying

Artificial turf is on the rise, with more and more people turning to the grass alternative in both commercial, educational and residential spaces. If you’re thinking of making the switch to this crowd-favourite, there are undoubtedly a few questions on your lips – but what are the most important ones to ask? Take a look below to find out what questions you should be asking before you take the plunge.

How can I keep my artificial lawn looking great?

When it comes to natural grass, maintenance is common knowledge. We all know we need to regularly mow it to keep it looking trim, make sure it gets enough water to stay green and lush and get rid of any pesky weeds that may pop up.

But when it comes to purchasing synthetic grass, a lot of us don’t know where to start. How do you keep it clean and looking fresh? What’s the best way to take care of it to make sure you get your money’s worth?

One of the main reasons people are turning to artificial lawns is because they are incredibly low maintenance and they look fantastic for as long as you need them to. With this alternative, you don’t need to worry about using a sprinkler to keep it green or invest in a good lawnmower. These products are incredibly durable, so you won’t come across much wear and tear and if it ever starts to look a bit less pristine, hose it down.

Will an artificial lawn be okay if I have a dog?

If you have a pet, you may be wondering if synthetic grass is the right choice for you and your furry friend.

You may not realise that this turf alternative can actually be a fantastic solution to the mess and mud that comes with pairing a pet with real grass – and your fur baby will love you for it! Not only is it completely free of harmful pesticides and fertiliser, but it can also deter ticks and fleas.

Pet owners also don’t need to worry about how their dog will do its business, as this turf is specifically designed to drain the liquid through it. Let your dog do its thing, pick it up as you usually would and spray it off with a hose afterwards!

Will my artificial turf still get weeds?

Although artificial grass needs a lot less maintenance than its natural alternative, you may still encounter the occasional weed.

This alternative is far more weed-resistant, however, sometimes they can make their way around its edges or even sometimes through the holes in the backing material of your turf. During installation, steps are taken to try to prevent weeds from becoming an issue. This can include excavation, spraying weed killer before installing the grass and using a weed barrier fabric during installation. Although the lawn guarantees that weeds will be a lot less common, you may still have to pull out a plant or two during its lifespan.
